I understand. When I first looked at the device I said I'd never want one. After thinking about it longer if they made the changes I suggested but still kept the price point at that 499 range I'd switch to really wanting one but until then I think I'll just be frustrated. I like to be able to make my devices fit my life and habits, not change my life and habits to fit my device which is what you have to do with a device like that.

You give me support for usb, flash (although we'll see how flash fares after html5 becomes standard), Right now you can't use hulu, can't stream netflix, etc... I use those all the time and any mobile platform I get I want to support that. Some simple multitasking (I at least want to be able to have two things open at once such as the browser and maybe a word document) and I think I'd be pretty happy with the device.

I'm still quite content with my MacBook... best computer I've ever owned. It's 2 years old now and it still runs like the day I got it. Hasn't slowed down... is still fast, etc. That's HUGE!

Having an iPad would be great for those week-end travels of mine... and for other light functions.

BUT... I agree, there's NO reason why they can't add USB support and flash. I don't think that was a good decision on the part of Apple.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods. (Psalms 95:2-3 NKJV)

They didn't want to add those because they wanted to lock you into only being able to get products through itunes and their book store. If they don't allow usb then there's no way for you to access your data except through their programs which hopefully involves you paying for it. If they allow flash, then developers can circumvent the app store and make applications using flash.

Its all about controlling the user and profitability.
