I am a writer of simple songs

I am always quick to point that I am a “work in progress, being perfected daily.” A statement that I believe many can relate to and in my life is so very true!
For years I’ve wanted to be a deep and insightful songwriter… and, I have had my moments, but… what I am learning about myself is this, I am a writer of simple songs. That’s what it boils down to… I write simple songs. Be it a song that is sung… or an instrumental guitar piece. Writing simple songs is what I do best! I’m also starting to once again understand that I am a worshipper of God. Someone who longs to radically love God with every part of my being and often my expressions come across and simple and trite. I say expressions because I feel that my instrumental pieces are every bit worship as the songs I sing. A concept few may be able to grasp… but it’s something I feel is being established within my heart and spirit.
I guess what I am attempting to communicate is this… I am trying to remove the pressure I’ve placed on myself to be someone I am not. Wow… feels good to confess that.
I am a worshipper who writes simple songs, that’s who I am!
